The AACR vigorously supports the education, training, and professional development of early-career investigators in the cancer field. AACR Associate membership is open to graduate students, medical students and residents, and clinical and postdoctoral fellows who are enrolled in educational or training programs that could lead to careers in cancer research.The AACR is pleased to offer opportunities to investigators in the international community, in particular, those located in countries with emerging economies. Benefits of Associate Membership
Membership benefits include significantly reduced registration rates for participation in AACR Annual Meetings and special conferences, the privilege of sponsoring a proffered paper (abstract) for consideration for presentation at the AACR Annual Meeting, substantially reduced subscriptions rates to one or more of AACR’s eight scientific journals, a membership card that acknowledges the member is in good standing, and more.
The AACR offers a variety of scholar awards and travel grants that provide financial support for attendance at AACR Annual Meetings, special conferences, and other scientific meetings sponsored by the AACR worldwide.
The AACR organizes several summer educational workshops each year that foster knowledge in the cancer field for investigators in training. Each educational workshop is designed primarily for fellows and junior faculty and provides intensive one-week training, mentoring, and networking opportunities in an informal setting.
Associate Member Council (AMC)
The AACR Associate Member Council (AMC) is the leadership body for over 13,000 AACR Associate Members. Members of the AMC, who serve three-year terms, develop programs and initiatives that address the particular needs of early-career scientists. Additionally, the AMC acts as an advisory body to the AACR leadership on issues of concern to the next generation of cancer researchers.
The AACR’s career website exclusively features cancer research positions. Candidates can post resumes or CVs free of charge and browse for positions with unlimited access. Employers can meet candidates online and in person at the AACR Annual Meeting.
