Brigette Ma is currently a clinical professor in medical oncology at the Department of Clinical Oncology, and medical director of the phase 1 Clinical Trial Centre (Oncology) Chinese University of Hong Kong. She received her bachelor of medicine and surgery with honors at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia, and was awarded fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2001 and fellow of Hong Kong College of Physicians in 2004. Professor Ma received post-graduate training in medical oncology at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Institute, Melbourne, and was research fellow under the mentorship of Professor Lillian Siu at the Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto, Canada. In June 2014, she was awarded the degree of doctor of medicine by the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
She has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers on subjects including novel designs of cancer drug trials and novel therapies for head and neck, colorectal, and other cancers. She has been a member of the Joint Scientific Committee for Phase 1 Clinical Trials, Centre of Health Protection, Hong Kong Hospital Authority since 2013. She has been the vice chair of the Hong Kong Nasopharyngeal Cancer Study Group since 2013, and holds membership in ASCO, AACR, and CSCO. Dr. Ma is a member of the International Advisory Board of the Lancet Oncology, and serves in the editorial board of the Asian-Pacific Journal of Clinical Oncology and South Asian Journal of Oncology. Professor Ma sits on the advisory board of many pharmaceutical companies and has been the lead principal investigator of several clinical trials including U.S. National Cancer Institute Cancer Therapy Evaluation Program (NCI-CTEP) studies.
