Be a Member of the AACR Family

Include AACR in your estate plans with a charitable bequest.

Bequests are the easiest way to make provisions for the things you care about. Bequests can be made in the form of a specific gift of cash or property or as in the remainder of an estate or trust. The full amount of a bequest can be deductible for estate tax purposes.

Your gift can be significant without affecting your current income or cash flow. You may also designate your gift to a specific program or purpose.

The American Association for Cancer Research has approved the following language for an effective bequest:

Unrestricted Bequest:

"I hereby give, transfer and convey to the American Association for Cancer Research Foundation, a non-profit corporation organized and operating under the law of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the sum of $_________ (or specific description of the gift, such as a specific asset or _________ percent of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate) to be used by the AACR Foundation as the Board of Trustees deems necessary."

Restricted Bequest:

"I hereby transfer and convey to the American Association for Cancer Research Foundation, a non-profit corporation organized and operating under the law of the commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the sum of $________ (or specific description of the gift, such as a specific asset or __________ percent of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate) to be used by the AACR Foundation for the following purpose (specific description of purpose). If this specified income designation can no longer be met by the AACR Foundation, I agree the Board of Trustees at its sole discretion may determine an alternate designation for the application of that income, which will be as near to my original intention as is practical."

It is always best to have your bequest language reviewed in advance by the AACR Foundation so as to avoid potential difficulties for the executor of the Will.  Also, donors are encouraged to contact their legal counsel before making changes to a Will.
