Account Manager

Position Title:            Account Manager
Reports to:                 Assistant Director, Sales and Outreach 
Department:              Sales and Marketing, Publishing Division
Employment Status:  Full-time/Exempt

Position Description and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement plans to meet or exceed retention goals for the existing business;
  • Oversee all workflow/processes associated with managing existing accounts and new business;
  • Collaborate with marketing staff to develop and execute sales and retention campaigns;
  • Analyze customer and publications marketing data and identify/develop upsell and sales opportunities;
  • Own and manage customer relationship, ensuring delivery of the highest level of customer service;
  • Utilize and maintain the CRM database to ensure  accurate and complete customer data;
  • Coordinate invoicing and payment reconciliation with Finance and Business Administration Division;
  • Manage all aspects of contracts/addenda;
  • Produce and maintain sales reports and analysis for internal review;
  • Work with journal hosting vendor to ensure seamless uploading of subscriber files, access to the journal content, and accurate and timely reporting; 
  • Supervise and coordinate print runs for the journals; 
  • Fulfill customer claims for missing print issues; and
  • Perform the essential functions of the position and other responsibilities as may be assigned by the assistant director of sales and outreach and the associate director of sales and marketing.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree;
  • Minimum of three years' experience in account management in a publishing environment;
  • Strong customer service orientation;
  • Highly organized and detail oriented;
  • Flexible work style;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Strong knowledge of CRM systems, knowledge and experience with Salesforce is preferred;
  • Proficiency in Excel especially important: creating reports, extracting data, and generating financial reports;
  • General use of Microsoft applications; and
  • Knowledge of STM publishing market preferred.
