American Association for Cancer Research

May 8, 2007 -- The Willard Hotel, Washington, D.C.

On May 7, 1907, eleven laboratory scientists and clinicians came together in a meeting room at the Willard Hotel in Washington, D.C. to discuss the rapidly emerging field of cancer research, effectively forming the AACR.

One hundred years later, on May 8, 2007, members of AACR's leadership gathered once again at the Willard Hotel to present the hotel's owner, Mr. Richard Carr, with a commemorative plaque of AACR's founding members and the minutes of that first meeting, for inclusion in the Willard Hotel's new historic gallery.
