In September 2000, the AACR Board of Directors enthusiastically approved the formation of AACR-Minorities in Cancer Research (MICR) and its leadership Council to act as an advisory body to the AACR Board of Directors on issues of concern to minority investigators.
MICR Council members are elected to serve on the Council for a three-year term. A Chairperson-Elect and three new Council members are elected annually. Council members are needed who will actively participate in and contribute to MICR activities. It is essential for members to have staggered terms in order to allow for participation from the MICR membership-at-large while preserving some continuity within the MICR leadership body.
