MICR Committees

Minorities in Cancer Research (MICR) members are encouraged to volunteer for committee service by downloading a MICR Committee Volunteer Form (Adobe Acrobat Reader required).

 

Communications Committee

Description: Recommends content for electronic and print communications to the membership as a means to inform, share information, and stimulate discussion between members. These media include the MICR webpages found on the AACR website, a listserv for MICR members only, a monthly e-nnouncement to MICR members, and an e-newsletter for MICR members only. Forum Committee  

Description: Provides useful tools and information to support the professional development of minority cancer researchers. Specific topics include funding, training, mentoring, etc. Committee Roster

 

Minority-Serving Institution Faculty Scholar Award Committee

Description: Responsible for evaluating applications of award candidates and making final selection of awardees for participation in AACR Annual Meeting and Special Conferences; offer recommendations for improving and assessing the success of the AACR Minority-Serving Institution Faculty Scholar in Cancer Research Awards program. Minority Scholar Award Committee

Description: Responsible for evaluating applications of award candidates and making final selection of awardees for participation in AACR Annual Meeting and Special Conferences; offer recommendations for improving and assessing the success of the AACR Minority Scholar in Cancer Research Awards program. Professional Advancement/Development Committee

Description: Develops and evaluates a program designed for investigators at all levels, but particularly early-career investigators, to explore career options and issues affecting professional advancement and development through small informal discussions with senior researchers. Scientific Symposium Committee

Description: Informs the cancer research community about cancer issues related to race/ethnicity and/or provides a platform for minority scientists to present their work with discussion and debate.  Committee Roster

 

Town Meeting Committee

Description: Provides an opportunity for the MICR Council to present its members, agenda, and programs to AACR members and annual meeting participants. This meeting will give participants a chance to share ideas, voice concerns, and express views on a variety of related topics. Committee Roster
