American Association for Cancer Research

Associate Membership

The AACR vigorously supports the education, training, and professional development of early-career investigators in the cancer field. Below are several programs and activities currently in place.

AACR Associate Membership
AACR Associate membership is open to graduate students, medical students and residents, and clinical and postdoctoral fellows who are enrolled in educational or training programs that could lead to careers in cancer research.

Benefits of Associate Membership
Membership benefits include significantly reduced registration rates for participation in AACR’s Special Conferences, the privilege of sponsoring a proffered paper (abstract) for consideration for presentation at the AACR Annual Meeting, substantially reduced subscriptions rates to one or more of AACR’s five scientific journals, a Membership Card that acknowledges the member is in good standing, and more.

Awards
AACR offers a variety of Scholar Awards and travel grants that provide financial support for attendance at AACR Annual Meetings, Special Conferences, and other scientific meetings sponsored by the AACR worldwide.

Educational Workshops
The AACR organizes several Summer Educational Training Workshops around the world each year that foster knowledge in the cancer field for investigators in training. Each Educational Workshop is designed primarily for fellows and junior faculty and provides intensive 1-week training, mentoring, and networking opportunities in an informal setting.

Associate Member Council (AMC)
The AACR Associate Member Council (AMC) is the leadership body for over 13,000 AACR Associate Members. Members of the AMC, who serve three-year terms, develop programs and initiatives that address the particular needs of early-career scientists. Additionally, the AMC acts as an advisory body to the AACR leadership on issues of concern to the next generation of cancer researchers.
