Investigators in Countries with Emerging Economies are Encouraged to Join AACR
With cancer as the second-leading cause of death in countries with emerging economies and cancer incidence on the rise, research collaborations, training, and immediate access to the latest findings in the most rapidly developing areas of basic, clinical, and translational cancer research are direly needed by scientists in countries with emerging economies to assist them in the fight for a cure. Membership in professional scientific societies is one way to provide scientists with access to these essential components; unfortunately, maintaining these memberships are problematic due to the financial responsibilities associated with membership fees and journal subscriptions.
We are pleased to announce a new AACR initiative that will provide these essential components to researchers located in countries with emerging economies by encouraging membership in AACR and by making maintaining AACR membership more economically viable. As the authoritative source and definitive voice of cancer research, AACR membership will provide an array of benefits which will enable investigators to participate more fully in the global conquest of cancer.
Active and Associate members who live and work in countries with emerging economies as designated by the World Bank, pay substantially reduced annual member dues of $50 (includes an electronic subscription to one Association journal) and $25, respectively. (Associate members may also subscribe to journals at substantially reduced member rates.) Active and Associate members retain all of the rights and privileges of each membership category; however, in order to minimize costs, all correspondence and access to information are communicated electronically.
Please inform your colleagues located in countries with emerging economies of this new initiative and encourage them to join AACR – the essential Association for Cancer Researchers - and our efforts to accelerate progress toward the prevention and cure of cancer while broadening the exchange of cancer research in less developed countries.
