American Association for Cancer Research

Press Policies & Guidelines

The AACR welcomes press coverage of its major meetings, including the Annual Meeting, “Frontiers in Cancer Prevention Research,” and “Molecular Targets and Cancer Therapeutics: Discovery, Biology and Clinical Applications.” Representatives from recognized news organizations or publications are cordially invited to attend press briefings and scientific sessions at these events.

Journalists also may attend AACR’s special conferences, but may report about research presented at these meetings only with the prior approval of the scientists presenting their findings.

Throughout the years, reporters are encouraged to develop stories based on scientific papers published in the AACR’s five peer-reviewed journals. The AACR Communications Department routinely distributes press releases about particularly newsworthy journal articles. However, reporters may also write about other research published in the journals, so long as listed embargoes are followed.
