The Senate Appropriations Committee has jurisdiction over all discretionary spending legislation in the Senate.

 

Senate Appropriations Committee Subcommittee on Labor, Health, Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies (Labor-HHS)

The Senate Appropriations Labor-HHS Subcommittee is one of 12 appropriations subcommittees. It specifically oversees funding for most federal agencies, institutes, and programs under the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), including the National Institutes for Health (NIH).

 

Senate Appropriations Committee Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies

The Senate Appropriations Committee Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration and Related Agencies oversees funding for the Food and Drug Administration.

 

Senate Budget Committee

The Senate Budget Committee is responsible for drafting the annual federal budget plan and monitoring action that impacts the budget.

 

Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP)

The Senate HELP Committee has broad jurisdiction over agencies, institutes, and programs under the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), including the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It also oversees other issues related to public health and health insurance.

The House Committee on Energy and Commerce has jurisdiction over legislation pertaining to health and health facilities; biomedical research and development; consumer protection; food and drug safety and public health.

 

House Committee on Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health

The House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health has jurisdiction over legislation pertaining to the National Institutes of Health (NIH); biomedical research; public health; hospital construction; biomedical programs and health protection in general, including Medicaid and national health insurance, and food and drugs.
