TRAVEL TO SAN DIEGO
The closest major airport to the AACR Annual Meeting 2014 is the San Diego International Airport (SAN), just 3 miles / 4.8 kilometers from the San Diego Convention Center. Travel to San Diego may be booked through Gant Travel, AACR’s official travel agency. Travel booked through Gant for the AACR Annual Meeting 2014 will qualify for a drawing for $500 in United Airline travel funds to use towards future travel. Shuttle Service: The AACR has contracted with San Diego Super Shuttle to offer shuttle service between the San Diego International Airport (SAN) and San Diego Convention Center during the meeting. For airport shuttle service information and reservations, call (800) 258-3826 and mention code VNZ3P to the reservation agent to receive $1 off a one-way transfer or $2 off a roundtrip transfer. There is an option to book sedans as well; the meet and greet rate is $44, not including driver gratuity. To avoid wait time and receive the discount, advance reservations are required.

Taxi Service: Many companies provide taxicab service at San Diego International Airport. If you need a taxi, simply follow the signs leading to the Transportation Plazas. A Transportation Coordinator will place you with the first available taxi – unless you specify a particular taxicab company. Cab rides from the airport to the Convention Center typically cost $15 to $20.
Train Service and Public Transportation: Amtrak and Coaster Amtrak Intercity and Coaster commuter trains link communities and travelers to downtown San Diego. Travelers headed to and from San Diego International Airport can connect with Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner and the Coaster at Amtrak’s Santa Fe Depot train station downtown by using Metropolitan Transit System Flyer Route No. 992 every 10 minutes between 5:00 a.m. and 12:50 a.m. Amtrak operates seven days a week, 365 days per year, with 12 round trips. Tickets may be purchased at the Amtrak station. The Coaster operates Monday through Saturday. The Metro Bus is available to and from the Airport and downtown San Diego on Flyer Route No. 992, stopping between Terminals 1 and 2 and the Commuter Terminal. The 10-minute bus service connects with Trolley, Coaster, and Amtrak stations and is wheelchair accessible. Bus fare ranges from $2.50 to $5; no change is given.
