ACCOMMODATIONS

In a region rich with signature monuments and iconic destinations, the nation’s capital is now home to a defining project that flanks the city with an array of entertainment, upscale living, artistry, shopping, food, and fun. National Harbor offers world-class dining and shopping within steps of the Potomac River, and it is brought to life throughout the year with festivals, music and more.


The meeting will be held at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center, situated at the foot of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, just off I-95 on the Capital Beltway outside of Washington, DC. It is conveniently located approximately 10 miles from Ronald Reagan National Airport, 40 miles from Washington Dulles International Airport and 10 miles from Amtrak's Union Station. Washington, DC is just a 15-minute ride from National Harbor and Old Town Alexandria, Georgetown, and Mount Vernon are easily accessible by water taxi.

A reduced conference rate of $269 per night (plus 16% tax), single or double occupancy, was available to conference attendees until October 27. CANCELLATION POLICY

You can make, modify and/or cancel reservations through October 20, by contacting the Gaylord National Resort. Reservations secured by a credit card will be charged one night’s room and tax as a deposit. Cancellations requested prior to 72 hours of arrival will receive a full refund. Deposits will not be refunded for cancellations within 72 hours of arrival.

TRAVEL TO NATIONAL HARBOR

Airlines
Gaylord National is approximately 15 minutes from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) and 45 minutes from Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI). The AACR has named Experient its official travel coordinator for this conference. Experient will provide custom itineraries with the lowest applicable airfares and best journey time.

Fly on United Airlines, the official airline of this conference, and save with special discounts exclusive to attendees and guests. United offers various levels of discounts:

  • Save 7% on United’s lowest applicable fares when you book and ticket 30 days or more in advance. Discounts apply on United, United Express, Ted, and United codeshare flights operated by US Airways and Air Canada. Applicable restrictions apply.
  • Special United Airlines Area Fares are set air fare prices based upon geographical locations. Two-day minimum stay and seven-day advance purchase required. Applicable restrictions apply.

Train Service
Amtrak provides regional rail transportation to Washington, DC’s Union Station and is offering a 10% discount off the lowest available rail fare between your home city and Washington, DC from November 14 to November 21, 2008. To book your reservation, call Amtrak at (800) 872-7245 or contact your local travel agent and refer to Promotional Fare Code X11U-945. This discount cannot be redeemed online. This offer is not valid on the Auto Train and Acela Service. Fare is valid on Amtrak Regional for all departures seven days a week. Offer valid with Sleepers, Business Class or First Class seats with payment of the full applicable accommodation charges.

GROUND TRANSPORTATION

There are several choices of transportation between the local airports and the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center. Taxi service is approximately $20 from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), $55 from Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), and $30 from Amtrak's Union Station. SuperShuttle also offers service between the local airports and the conference site. From Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), the cost is $22 per person. SuperShuttle will run every 30 minutes from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. from DCA to Gaylord National. From Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), the cost is $43 per person. Prices are subject to change and individuals are encouraged to make reservations in advance. Upon arrival at the airport, follow signs for Ground Transportation to SuperShuttle. National Harbor and the Gaylord National Resort are connected to the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, or Metro system via a limited-stop bus route. The NH-1 bus route begins at the Southern Avenue Metro station and concludes at National Harbor. Current pricing for the trip is $1.35 each way.
