This AACR Special Conference addressed the unique issues and challenges investigating and effectively treating childhood cancers and focused on the translation of recent discoveries in the basic mechanisms of pediatric cancer into improved outcomes for patients. This conference attracted over 300 basic, clinical, and translational researchers in the field of pediatric cancer from nearly 20 different countries. Sessions focused on the developmental biology of pediatric malignancies, genetic predisposition to pediatric cancers, and pivotal clinical trials. Strategies for translating basic science findings into treatments with a clinical impact were also highlighted throughout the program.
