ABSTRACT SUBMISSION DEADLINE: MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 15


ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

Each registrant may submit one abstract of his or her work for presentation during the conference. It is expected that the abstract will include original data not previously published in a peer-review journal or the proceedings of a national meeting. Only those abstracts that have been reviewed and selected by the Conference Chairpersons may be presented.


Individuals interested in submitting an abstract for presentation during the conference may do so through the AACR online abstract submission service below. Abstract submissions will only be accepted through the online abstract submission service; paper abstracts will not be accepted. The abstract submission deadline is September 15, 2008.

Abstracts selected for presentation during the conference will be printed electronically from submitted material. Every effort will be made to reproduce the content of the abstracts as submitted, except in certain circumstances where changes may be made to comply with AACR style. Please be sure to carefully check your abstract for content errors, spelling, names, etc. before submitting. The AACR does not proofread for or correct spelling, typographical, grammatical, or scientific errors, nor can changes be made once the abstract is submitted.

Registration and housing for abstract presenters:
Abstract presenters are encouraged to register before the advance registration deadline and to make a room reservation at the conference hotel before the housing deadline. If an abstract is not accepted for presentation at the conference, the presenter may request a full refund of the registration fee and may cancel his/her room reservation at no charge up to 4 days before the scheduled arrival date. ABSTRACT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

[Note to Invited Speakers: The submission guidelines below do not apply to invited abstracts. Please disregard these guidelines.]


Authors who submit an abstract of a paper confirm that they have not previously published these data, that they have not previously presented them at a large national annual scientific meeting, and that they are not planning to present or publish them prior to the dates of this AACR Special Conference.

The Conference Chairpersons will evaluate the scientific quality of the submitted abstract on the basis of the following criteria: novelty of the research, significance of the findings, and clarity. Authors should be particularly cognizant of the importance of setting forth the objectives and hypotheses of the study in a clear, succinct manner and of summarizing the new, unpublished results. If the abstract is poorly written such that the Conference Chairpersons cannot determine its novelty and importance, the paper will not be accepted for presentation at the conference.

Authors submitting abstracts for presentation at this AACR Special Conference should consider the following:

  1. Abstracts must describe in a succinct manner the purposes and results of the research so that the quality, originality, and comprehensiveness of the work can be evaluated by the Conference Chairpersons. Each abstract should contain: (a) an introductory sentence indicating the purposes of the study; (b) a brief description of pertinent experimental procedures; (c) a summary of the new, unpublished data; and (d) a statement of the conclusions. Authors must accept sole responsibility for the statements in their abstracts. American spelling should be used throughout.
  2. Titles should be indicative of the content of the abstract. All words necessary to identify the subject matter should be included in the title to facilitate electronic retrieval (if applicable). Avoid nonstandard abbreviations in abstract titles.
  3. Abbreviations may be used in the body of an abstract if they are defined at their first mention in the text. Complex therapeutic regimens must be identified.
  4. The combined length of the abstract title, list of authors, and body should not exceed 525 words. The online submitter will not accept abstracts that exceed this word limit.
  5. PLEASE NOTE: The AACR is committed to the advancement of cancer research and the cure and prevention of cancer through the facilitation of communication and full dissemination of knowledge among scientists and others dedicated to the cancer problem. Therefore, the AACR requires strict compliance with the following regulation:
    • When biological or chemical data pertaining to chemical entities are an integral part of the research, the chemical structure, method of preparation, and patent or reference numbers must be presented. If for any reason this information cannot be provided when the paper is presented at the conference, the abstract on this work should not be submitted for consideration.
  6. Because of administrative and time constraints, supplemental data submitted along with the abstract cannot be transmitted to the Conference Chairpersons for review.
  7. The accuracy of the submitted abstract is the responsibility of the authors. Every effort will be made to publish the abstract exactly as submitted. Authors should prepare and proofread their abstracts carefully prior to submission. Errors made on your submitted abstract are likely to appear in print.
  8. Authors are strongly encouraged to print a hard copy of their abstract for their records before submitting.
  9. All PRESENTERS must register to attend this AACR Special Conference.
  10. If an abstract is accepted and the PRESENTER does not register, the abstract may be withdrawn.
  11. Abstract submitters will receive an initial notification of receipt in the form of a confirmation screen. Notifications of abstract receipt will be sent to the ABSTRACT SUBMITTER only.

Once an abstract has been submitted, it may be withdrawn only by written request from the ABSTRACT PRESENTER. The request may be sent by fax to (215) 599-0111 or e-mail to programs@aacr.org and must be received at least 20 days prior to the start of the conference.

NOTIFICATION OF ABSTRACT STATUS

Abstract presenters will be notified by e-mail approximately 3 weeks after the abstract submission deadline. Notices and instructions will be sent to the e-mail address provided at the time of abstract submission. If your abstract is not selected for presentation, you may request a full refund of your registration fee by contacting the AACR Meetings Department at meetings@aacr.org. Poster boards will be 4 feet high and 8 feet across (1.22m x 2.44m). AACR will provide poster numbers and pushpins.

INVITED SPEAKER ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

Invited Speakers will be contacted by e-mail with instructions for submitting their abstracts. The above guidelines do not apply to invited abstracts.
