EDUCATIONAL SESSIONS

The conference opens with two sets of concurrent Educational Sessions designed to provide overviews of important aspects of translational cancer research for investigators who are not expert in these areas. The first two concurrent Educational Sessions will run from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 20. These sessions will be followed by two more concurrent Educational Sessions from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.


KEYNOTE ADDRESS

The Keynote Address will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 20 in the Regency Grand Ballroom. Dr. Charles L. Sawyers of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center will give a talk on "Overcoming Resistance to Molecularly Targeted Cancer Therapy." The Opening Reception will immediately follow the Keynote Address, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., in the Regency Grand Ballroom Foyer and Terrace.


PLENARY SESSIONS

The program includes seven major Plenary Sessions that are designed to promote the open discourse necessary for confronting challenges of applying scientific discoveries in cancer to the practice of medicine. These sessions will feature extended discussion time following each talk, as well as substantial opening and closing remarks by the session chairpersons. The Plenary Sessions will focus on Development of Rational Combination Therapies; Predicting and Preventing Drug Resistance; How to Shorten the Time it Takes to Get a Drug into the Clinic; Targeting the P13K/AKT/PTEN Pathway; Tumor Microenvironment; Biologic Insights from Targeting the HER Pathway; and Organ-Based Research. All Plenary Sessions will be located in the Regency Grand Ballroom.


FORUMS

The program includes two one hour-long Forums on the Major Barriers to Translational Research and on the Regulatory Basis for Personalized Medicine.


CONCURRENT SESSIONS

Three Concurrent Sessions will be held on Monday, July 21 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.


POSTER SESSIONS

Abstracts will be presented at the two poster sessions on July 21 and 22. Poster Sessions will be held in the Regency Grand Ballroom 1-3 according to the following schedule:


Poster Session A
Monday, July 21
6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.

Poster Session B
Tuesday, July 22
5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.

All presenters must stand at their posters for at least 90 minutes of the two-hour poster sessions. Presenters in Poster Session A may set-up their posters between the hours of 10:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on Monday, July 21. Presenters in Poster Session B may set-up between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22. Posters should be removed immediately following each session.

MENTORING LUNCH FOR EARLY-CAREER INVESTIGATORS

Mentoring Lunch Sessions will be offered on Monday, July 21 and Tuesday, July 22 for early-career investigators to provide them with insight and guidance into future career pathways in cancer research. Early-career investigators will be grouped with senior scientists to engage in free-form discussion concerning individual professional histories and potential career paths in an informal setting. Lunch will be served to those early-career investigator registrants that have signed up to participate in the mentoring lunches. The lunches will take place on Monday, July 21 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Tuesday, July 22 from 1:15 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in Cypress 1-3. Remaining luncheon spots will be available for sign-up at the registration desk on a first-come, first-serve basis.
