Providing Financial Support for Presentation of Outstanding Breast Cancer Research

The purpose of scholarships is to promote the education and professional development of scientists who are actively pursuing research in breast cancer, by encouraging and facilitating their attendance at the CTRC-AACR San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium. This important international educational symposium reaches an audience of academic and clinical physicians and basic scientists, and focuses on state-of-the-art information on the experimental biology, etiology, diagnosis, and treatment of breast cancer and premalignant breast disease, as well as breast cancer prevention.

Recipients of these grants and awards will be identified in the SABCS program, both print and on-line, and also at the meeting.

Eligibility

  • May not be a previous recipient of the award or grant.
  • Must be participating in an official training program in an academic institution.
  • Must provide certification of "in-training" status from program director.
  • Must be the presenting author of an abstract accepted for presentation at the 31st Annual SABCS.
  • Must register for and attend the symposium, and present the accepted abstract.

Preference will be given to abstracts related to translational breast cancer research. Award amount ranges from $400-$2000 depending on home institution of recipient.

NEW! Susan G. Komen for the Cure-American Association for Cancer Research Minority Scholar Awards
Must be a member of the following minority groups traditionally underrepresented in cancer and biomedical research: African Americans, Alaskan Natives, Hispanics, Native Americans, and Native Pacific Islanders. Award amount ranges from $400-$2000 depending on home institution of recipient.

SABCS Clinical Scholars
For clinical scientists-in-training who are actively pursuing clinical or clinical/translational research in breast cancer. 10 grants of US $2,000 each are available.

Novartis Oncology Basic Science Scholars
For laboratory-based investigators-in-training whose work focuses on the biology of breast cancer and preclinical models of its development and progression. 10 grants of US $2,000 each are available.

Avon Foundation-AACR International Scholar-in-Training Grants
10 grants of US $2,000 each are available for abstract presenters traveling from countries with emerging economies.

AACR-AstraZeneca International Scholar-in-Training Awards
10 awards of US $2,000 each are available for presenters of highly rated abstracts traveling from countries outside the United States.
