The Breast Cancer Research Foundation-AACR Grants for Translational Breast Cancer Research were established in 2007 to provide support for innovative cancer research projects designed to accelerate the discovery, development, and application of new agents to treat breast cancer and/or for pre-clinical research with direct therapeutic intent.
It is anticipated that two grants of up to $200,000 each will be awarded.
Independent investigators who are affiliated with any institution involved in cancer research, cancer medicine, or cancer-related biomedical science anywhere in the world may apply. There are no geographic, national, or residency status restrictions. Pre- and postdoctoral fellows, clinical research fellows or the equivalent, or other investigators who are working under the auspices of a scientific mentor are not eligible to apply.
Employees or subcontractors of a national government or the for-profit private industry are not eligible to serve as the Principal Investigator for the purpose of these grants. However, collaborations with such individuals are encouraged.
Members of the Scientific Review Committee are not eligible for these Grants.
Applicants must have acquired a doctoral degree in a related field.
Both AACR members and nonmembers are eligible to apply. However, nonmembers must submit a satisfactory application for AACR Active membership by July 20, 2009. The application will be applied to 2009 membership dues. An application may be downloaded from the AACR website.
Current recipients of any AACR grant are not eligible. That is, individuals may hold only one AACR grant at a time. Past AACR grantees who have failed to submit a final progress report or a final financial report may not apply until these reports have been provided.
Letters of Intent are now being accepted via the proposalCENTRAL website. Please download the Program Guidelines and Application Instructions document for more information.
