AACR Career Development Awards

Career Development Award Summary

AACR Career Development Awards are open to junior faculty at an academic, medical, or research institution who completed postdoctoral studies or clinical fellowships no more than three years prior to the start of the grant term.

The Awards provide two-year grants of $50,000 per year for direct research expenses and salary support. 


Applications must be completed online using the proposalCENTRAL website, with one paper copy submitted to the AACR office. Application instructions and program guidelines are available below and on the proposalCENTRAL website.

Open Applications: 

AACR Judah Folkman Career Development Award for Anti-Angiogenesis Research
Two-year grant of $100,000.  One Career Development Award will be awarded this cycle. 

Application Deadline:  August 10, 2009 at 12 noon, Eastern Time

Closed Applications:

Decision Date: March 16, 2009
Start of Grant Term: July 1, 2009

Career Development Awards for Pediatric Cancer Research (Joint Application)

  • AACR-Aflac, Incorporated Career Development Award for Pediatric Cancer Research: One grant will be presented in 2009.
  • AACR Centennial Career Development Award for Childhood Cancer Research: One grant will be presented in 2009.

Application Deadline: December 18, 2008 at noon, Eastern Time 

Pancreatic Cancer Action Network-AACR Career Development Awards
Candidates must be affiliated with an institution in the U.S.  Five grants will be presented in 2009.

Application Deadline: November 10, 2008 at 12:00 noon, Eastern Time
