- Employees or subcontractors of private industry are not eligible.
- Candidates may be travelling from within the U.S. or from abroad.
Application
- Eligible individuals should check the appropriate box in the Online Abstract Submission System and must submit their abstracts by the November 28, 2007, deadline.
- A letter of support (no more than one page) to confirm that the applicant meets the eligibility requirement
and that his or her clinical cancer research career will benefit from
this multi-meeting award was required from the applicant's mentor, supervisor, or Department Head.
Support
These awards provide support of $4,000 which may be used by the recipient to support attendance at the 2008 Annual Meeting and any other AACR meeting within a two-year period. Up to $2,000 per meeting may be used per meeting, and reimbursement checks are provided after the meeting upon submission of proper documentation of travel, housing, registration, and/or subsistence expenses.
Award recipients are still required to pay the Annual Meeting registration fee and make their own travel and housing arrangements. Therefore, all applicants are encouraged to register immediately to take advantage of the reduced advance registration rates. Booking travel and housing early will also ensure that the lowest rates will be available. If an award recipient is unable to attend the meeting or will not be the presenter of the abstract, the award must be forfeited.
Selection and Notification
Selection is made by the Program Committee based upon the novelty, quality, and significance of the abstract submitted. Award recipients will receive notification separate from abstract acceptance and scheduling information. Because of the number of submissions, only the awardees will be notified. Names of the recipients will be posted on the AACR website and in the printed Annual Meeting Final Program.
Note: Selection for a poster session or minisymposium does not guarantee that the presenter will receive an AACR-GlaxoSmithKline Clinical Cancer Research Scholar Award.
