MEG Award for Student Excellence in Molecular Epidemiology
Established in 2003, the MEG Award for Student Excellence in Molecular Epidemiology is awarded each year to three early-career scientists -- graduate students, medical students and residents, and clinical and postdoctoral fellows whose abstract accepted for presentation at the AACR Annual Meeting has been highly rated by the Program Committee. The purpose of the award is to highlight the work being done by talented early career scientists and to promote the importance of the field to others who may be considering a career in the growing discipline of molecular epidemiology. Awardees are recognized at the MEG Town Meeting, and receive a complimentary year of membership in the Working Group.
To be considered for the MEG Award for Student Excellence, young investigators should check the box to be considered for a Scholar in Training Award when submitting an abstract in the online abstract submitter.
Annual Meeting Scientific Sessions
MEG contributes significantly to the development of the Annual Meeting each year through the proposal of scientific sessions to the Annual Meeting Program and Educational Committees. If you would like to recommend a session for presentation at the next Annual Meeting, write to meg@aacr.org.
Special Evening Sessions

Professional Advancement Series and Forums
Evening sessions provide an opportunity for educational presentations and discussion of issues in molecular epidemiology. Topics in the past have included Population Stratification: Trivial Pursuit or Serious Concern?, A User's Guide to the HapMap, Analysis of Complex Data in Cancer Etiology, Proteomic Analysis of Population Samples: Are We Ready for Prime Time?, and Case-Control Studies: Preventing Worst Control Scenarios.
Town Meeting and Networking Reception
At the Town Meeting, the Chairperson discusses recent activities of the group and the intended focus of the Steering Committee for the coming year, invites discussion from the membership, and honors the winners of the MEG Award for Student Excellence in Molecular Epidemiology. The meeting is followed by a networking reception.
Open to all interested Annual Meeting attendees.
