How You Can Help

Attend Conferences

AACR conferences give advocates the opportunity to learn about the latest in cancer research, attend sessions outside of their own areas of expertise, and learn how to share the exciting new concepts with their constituents.

Become Involved

  • Register to become an Advocate Ambassador. We want to involve advocates in surveys, panel discussions, podcasts, etc. You can make a difference by voicing your opinion.
  • Sign up for an Advocate Affiliate AACR membership. Join the world's oldest and largest cancer research organization and take advantage of the many benefits, including substantially reduced fees for meeting registrations and journal subscriptions, as well as excellent opportunities to foster important relationships and collaborations with cancer scientists internationally.

Connect Others

  • Link to the Survivor and Patient Advocacy Program website.
  • Mention us in your group's newsletter, listserv and e-blast. Our website offers survivor advocates and caregivers resources, a glossary of cancer-related terms, a "How to...?" series to help answer some of the most common questions faced by cancer patients, caregivers and patient advocates, and much more.

  • Distribute CR magazine. Many survivors, advocates and caregivers are unaware there is a magazine just for them. Take a few minutes to pass along your copy of CR to someone who may need that inspiring word.

  • Write your local hospital, physician office or medical center. You can make a difference by contacting your health care professionals and sending a letter (Word document) asking them to subscribe to CR and alerting them of the advocacy programs and resources available to their patients
