Nearly 450 researchers from over 30 different countries participated in the 2007 AACR Special Conference on Advances in Breast Cancer Research. This conference captured and presented the latest discoveries in genetics, cell biology, and molecular biology that were relevant to mammary development, transformation, and breast cancer progression. AACR gratefully acknowledges Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the lead supporter of this AACR Special Conference.

Plenary sessions included high-profile speakers in the areas of stem cell biology, genetics and breast cancer risk, mouse models for breast cancer, genomic and proteomic approaches to tumor profiling, metastasis and breast cancer progression, oncogene signaling, the influence of tumor microenvironment on breast carcinogenesis, as well as state-of-the-art imaging methods and the latest in molecular therapeutics for breast cancer.

In addition to the plenary sessions, a special forum on Biomarkers for Breast Cancer Detection, Diagnosis, and Intervention was presented by the National Cancer Institute’s Early Detection Research Network (NCI-EDRN) and 4 poster sessions were held for investigators to present and discuss their latest research in an informal setting. Nearly 350 abstracts were submitted for presentation.
