Molecular Biology in Clinical Oncology Workshop

Application Procedure

Applications are no longer being accepted for this workshop. The application deadline was Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at 11:59 p.m.

The Organizing Committee will award positions to 45 applicants who are either in their residency or who have begun their fellowships in any clinical oncology subspecialty. We encourage applications from those physicians in the early stages of laboratory training to those who are ready to transition to junior faculty. Fellows who are in the later stages of their laboratory training/seeking junior faculty positions are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants will be selected on the basis of their answers to the questions on the application, academic history, and a letter of recommendation from their supervisor or department head. The Organizing Committee will seek a group of trainees who have made outstanding progress in their medical training, who have displayed an interest and competence in clinical or basic research, and who will come from a diverse group of training institutions and personal backgrounds.

Consideration will also be given for MD, PhD students with a demonstrated interest in cancer research. Applications from female and minority scientists are strongly encouraged. The 45 trainees selected will be required to pay a minimal registration fee of $750 for the workshop. This will cover their registration and complimentary hotel accommodations in Snowmass Village at the Viceroy Snowmass for the nights of the workshop (shared with additional trainee(s) in double or triple), as well as offset the costs of social events, workshop materials, and certain group meals. Trainees will be required to pay for their own travel to and from Snowmass Village. Please note: Because this workshop receives support from the National Cancer Institute, employees of the Federal Government may not be reimbursed for any expenses connected with the workshop. However, they are welcome to apply for attendance at the workshop and, if accepted, attend at their own expense.

Senior Scientists
The Organizing Committee will also accept to the workshop five (5) clinical scientists who have already embarked on academic careers. These senior scientists will pay a registration fee of $1,250 and will not receive any reimbursement for expenses incurred in connection with attending the workshop.
