University of Nottingham, UK
Three-year fully funded Fellowships in Cancer Research

The University of Nottingham is investing in cancer research.  In 2019, a new £25 million purpose-built research building will open, providing state-of-the art research facilities and housing the newly established Centre for Cancer Sciences. The centre will bring together cancer researchers from around the university in one location to create a world class cancer research facility.

We are seeking talented early career cancer researchers to join our expanding team of 30 academic groups, and to this end we are looking to appoint up to five fully funded cancer research fellows within the fields of tumour microenvironment, cancer immunology, cancer bioinformatics, angiogenesis or tumour cell and molecular biology, cancer prevention and early diagnosis, that will complement existing groups with strong track records in tumour microenvironment, patient derived models of cancer, breast cancer, cancers of digestive system (colorectal, oesophageal, liver and bile duct cancer), lung cancer, children’s brain cancers, and melanoma, and in precision imaging, epidemiology and risk reduction.

Applicants may come from a clinical or basic science background, and a generous support package is available. Nottingham Research Fellowships target outstanding early career researchers in all academic disciplines across the university and Anne McLaren Fellowships are aimed at outstanding female scholars in science, technology, engineering and medicine at an early stage of their academic careers.

With additional strategic funding from the university, we are developing the first research intensive undergraduate degree in cancer sciences, including a year in industry. This provides close ties with industry and cancer research institutions around the world, enabling us to collaborate globally. It will provide fellows with opportunities to gain teaching experience and recruit outstanding undergraduate and postgraduate students to their group, and to enhance their career prospects and academic experience.

Visit our website for more information on how to apply for these fellowships, which will commence in September 2019.
Deadline for Expressions of Interest: Oct. 12, 2018, 17:00 hours UK time
(12 noon US Eastern Time).
