The inherent heterogeneity and the multifactorial etiology of most cancer types underscores the need to include diverse populations in clinical cancer research. Findings from such studies are bound to give us a more complete picture of the disease and will help us better understand, prevent, and effectively treat cancer in all populations. My ultimate career goal is to contribute to clinical cancer research efforts in Africa with an aim to reduce the global cancer burden.
