AACR Patient Advocate Abstracts: 15th AACR Conference on The Science of Cancer Health Disparities
Patient advocates interested in submitting an abstract should either work, or volunteer, for a not-for-profit patient advocacy organization that
- Demonstrates a charitable mission,
- Engages in patient advocacy activities; and/or,
- Supports programs, activities, or services that benefit patients with cancer
Please note that current or past AACR Active or Associate members cannot submit an abstract in this category.
Individuals may be asked to submit an AACR Advocate Verification Form.
Patient advocates interested in submitting an abstract for presentation during the conference must do so through the AACR online abstract submission portal. Abstract submissions will only be accepted electronically; paper abstracts will not be accepted.
Please select “ADVOCATE ABSTRACT” for the category when you are submitting your abstract. Abstracts submitted under any other category will not be reviewed.
*Patient advocate presenters may be considered for a Patient Advocate Travel Scholarship. Awards are contingent on the abstract’s approval.

Patient advocate abstracts will be reviewed and selected by members of the conference Program Committee on the basis of the following criteria: novelty of the program, significance of the information, and clarity. If an abstract is poorly written such that the reviewers cannot determine its novelty and importance, the abstract will not be accepted for presentation.
NOTIFICATION OF ABSTRACT STATUS
All individuals listed as ABSTRACT PRESENTERS will be notified of acceptance or rejection by email by August 17, 2022. Notices and instructions will be sent to the email address provided at the time of abstract submission. If an abstract is not selected for presentation, the presenter may request a full refund of the registration fee by contacting the AACR Meetings Department at [email protected].
PRESENTATION AND PUBLICATION
Abstracts selected for presentation during the meeting (poster or oral) will be posted on the virtual meeting platform 30 minutes before the start of the conference on Friday, September 16. Every effort will be made to reproduce the content of the abstracts as submitted, except in certain circumstances where changes may be made to comply with AACR style. Abstract titles and authors (no data) will be posted on the AACR website before the meeting begins.
Poster presenters will be encouraged to participate in-person at the meeting but will not be required to do so if unable to travel to Philadelphia. Poster presenters participating in-person will be required to present both a physical poster and a short video for the virtual meeting platform. Poster presenters unable to travel to Philadelphia will be required to submit the short video for the virtual meeting platform. The short videos and associated abstracts will be released at the start of the in-person meeting on the virtual platform. Authors of accepted posters may be invited to deliver short oral proffered presentations of their work during the general sessions. Instructions will be sent to the ABSTRACT PRESENTERS with the date, time, and format for those presentations. All short talk presenters from the U.S. will be required to participate in-person. Those from outside the U.S. who are selected to present short talks will be encouraged to participate in-person, but may present remotely if unable to travel to Philadelphia.
REGISTRATION AND ACCOMMODATIONS
Individuals planning on presenting an abstract at this conference are encouraged to register and make a room reservation at the conference hotel as early as possible. If an abstract is not accepted for presentation at the conference, the presenter may request a full refund of the registration fee. REQUEST FOR WITHDRAWAL
Once an abstract has been submitted, it may be withdrawn only by written request from the ABSTRACT PRESENTER. The request may be emailed to [email protected] and must be received by August 20, 2022.
