Join AACR-Minorities in Cancer Research (MICR) in Support of Breast Cancer Awareness

AACR-Minorities in Cancer Research (MICR) is a charity partner.

AACR-Minorities in Cancer Research (MICR) is proud to participate as the charity partner for the Fourth Annual Philadelphia Sista Strut 3K Breast Cancer Walk.

The goal of this event is to heighten awareness about breast cancer in women of color and provide information to the community on resources that are available to help fight the disease. A portion of the proceeds will help support AACR-MICR’s mission to address the disparities in cancer incidence, diagnosis, treatment and survival faced by racial and ethnic minorities and the medically underserved and efforts to eliminate these inequalities.

AACR members, survivors, advocates, health professionals and the community-at-large unite in support of this virtual day of health advocacy, cancer education and community engagement. In compliance with social distancing measures due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year participants are encouraged to walk, run and strut in neighborhoods near their homes.

As a global leader in the fight against cancer, the AACR is committed to ensuring the delivery of the most innovative discoveries and cures needed to combat the global magnitude of this complex disease. The recent release of the inaugural and historic AACR Cancer Disparities Progress Report 2020: Achieving the Bold Vision of Health Equity for Racial and Ethnic Minorities and Other Underserved Populations, provides a comprehensive baseline understanding of our progress toward recognizing and eliminating cancer health disparities from the standpoint of biological factors, clinical management, population science, public policy, and workforce diversity.

We are honored to be a part of Sista Strut 2020 and hope that you will join us for this year’s virtual event!
