Abigail Fielder is a Cancer Biology PhD candidate and Howard Hughes Medical Institute Gilliam Fellow with a research focus on hormone receptor-positive breast cancer. Her doctoral research integrates molecular epidemiology and translational oncology to evaluate endocrine therapy sensitivity, molecular heterogeneity, and tumor aggressiveness, to inform personalized treatment strategies and improve clinical outcomes. In her career, she aspires to integrate scientific insight with strategic decision-making to accelerate cancer therapeutic development, translating complex biological and clinical data into actionable strategies through cross-functional collaboration.

Complementing her research, she is deeply committed to scientific communication, mentorship, and broadening access to cancer research through leadership in trainee development and national STEM outreach initiatives. Having first joined AACR as an undergraduate member, she experienced firsthand the organization’s role in shaping her scientific identity, expanding her professional network, and deepening her commitment to cancer research. Mentorship and community within AACR were instrumental in her growth, reinforcing her belief in leadership rooted in engagement and access. She looks forward to contributing to the Associate Member Council by amplifying trainee voices, strengthening pathways for early-career scientists, and fostering a culture of innovation and belonging.
