About the AACR Foundation

The AACR Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR). The Foundation supports the groundbreaking work of the AACR and its more than 58,000 members on the front lines of the global effort to eradicate cancer.

Funds raised by the AACR Foundation from individuals, foundations, corporate partners, and others support the AACR’s mission to prevent and cure all forms of cancer through research, education, communication, collaboration, science policy, advocacy, and grant-giving for cancer research. The AACR is the first and largest cancer research organization dedicated to preventing and curing all cancers.

Charitable donations to the AACR through the AACR Foundation advance research-driven progress against cancer through the organization’s many programs and initiatives—from convening vital scientific conferences and workshops, publishing ten high-impact journals, and distributing travel awards, research fellowships, and grants for innovative projects. The AACR gives direct grants for basic, translational, clinical, and population research, targeting innovative science that has the potential to have a major impact in the fight against cancer.

AACR grants support researchers domestically and abroad at every stage of their careers, from early-career investigators and mid-career researchers to senior scientists. In 2022, the AACR awarded more than $10.3 million in grants. Since 1993, the AACR has awarded more than 990 grants totaling more than $540 million.
