AACR-PCWG 2023 Chair-elect election results
On behalf of the AACR and the Pediatric Cancer Working Group we are pleased to announce that after an extremely competitive election, E. Alejandro Sweet-Cordero, MD has received the majority of the votes. Therefore, he shall be appointed the 2022-2023 PCWG Working Group chair-elect effective immediately, and transition to the role of PCWG chair at the 2023 AACR Annual Meeting for the 2023-2025 term. During this time, he will be working with Dr. Katherine A. Janeway, current PCWG chair, to continue driving pediatric cancer initiatives forward.
We would like to extend our special thanks to Dr. David Malkin, MD, FRCPC, for standing for election to this important position, for his outstanding vision and continuous and invaluable contributions to the Pediatric Cancer Research Working Group.
Mission
The mission of the Pediatric Cancer Working Group (PCWG) is to establish childhood cancer research as a global priority supported by improved funding, the very latest technologies, and best educational strategies. The PCWG provides a forum for communication and collaboration among basic, clinical, and translational researchers in academia, industry, and government on all aspects of pediatric cancer research. The group serves as an interface bridging the AACR with advocacy and legislative groups to promote the prevention and treatment of all childhood cancers.
