Arthur and Sandra Irving Cancer Immunology Symposium*
July 18-22, 2022
Boston, Massachusetts
*Conference is being held independently of the AACR
Hosted by Arthur and Sandra Irving, this working symposium will focus on advancing the careers of young scientists doing research in cancer immunology. Approximately 15 accomplished faculty mentors will share their research career experiences in cancer immunology with 45 promising young scientists (post-docs and starting faculty).
Participation in the symposium will provide an opportunity to develop strong ties with senior faculty mentors, while learning about the different paths to success in cancer immunology research. Participants will learn how excellent science is advanced by formulating questions, designing and executing studies to address these questions, hiring, mentoring, collaborating, leadership, raising funds, and publishing. Sessions will cover these and other key areas for a successful research career, and include lectures, small discussion/working groups with faculty mentors, and review sessions to integrate lessons learned. Participants will also work on writing a strong research statement to support their next stage of career development. In addition, participants will be paired with a faculty member and have their initial mentor/mentee meeting towards the end of the Symposium.
Applicants will be selected by a committee based on the applicant’s research achievements and plans, and recommendations by their mentors.
Applications are due by Monday, December 20, 2021 and participants will be informed of acceptances in February 2022.
