From March 29-April 3, Atlanta was the place to learn about the latest cutting-edge cancer science from all over the world. The AACR Annual Meeting 2019 brought together more than 21,000 laboratory researchers, clinicians, patient advocates, and other oncology professionals. As the leading forum for cutting-edge basic, translational, and clinical discoveries, the AACR Annual Meeting sets the research agenda for the international cancer community.
Meeting Highlights
Meeting Summaries. Cancer Research Catalyst (the AACR blog) covered the meeting in depth, highlighting both the cutting-edge science presented at the meeting as well as the perspective of patient advocates who participated in the AACR Scientist-Survivor Program. In addition, meeting attendees received expert summaries of the scientific highlights during a Wrap-Up Plenary Session.

Abstracts and Posters. More than 5,600 abstracts were presented at the meeting in poster sessions or minisymposia. These abstracts are freely available in multiple formats.

Spotlight on Clinical Trials. A record 213 clinical trials were presented at the Annual Meeting, 38 of which were selected for oral presentation. The highest-impact trials were featured in four Clinical Trial Plenary Sessions.

NCI Directors’ Remarks. Outgoing director Norman E. Sharpless, MD, FAACR, and incoming acting director Douglas R. Lowy, MD, FAACR, shared their thoughts on progress and collaboration in the field.
The meeting program also included several NCI/NIH-sponsored sessions.

Regulatory Science and Science Policy Sessions. These sessions highlighted recent regulatory developments and provided an open forum for the discussion of cutting-edge issues in cancer drug, biologic, and diagnostic regulation.
