What are your long-term career objectives?

“I have dedicated my career to understanding how cells respond to environmentally-induced DNA damage. I currently study how mechanical stimulation enhances repair of cisplatin-DNA adducts. My research has the possibility of developing nonpharmaceutical protocols to reduce chemotherapy side effects and enhance patient quality of life. As a minority woman it is important for me to achieve a tenure-track faculty position in order to create a more inclusive environment for the next generation of STEM researchers.”

Abstract #5614: Mechanical regulation of cisplatin-DNA adduct repair in mesenchymal stem cells.
