What are your long-term career objectives?

“I aim to establish my independent research laboratory within one year. My research program will investigate how persistence of the fetal programs defines heterogeneity and function of pancreatic cancer associated fibroblasts (CAFs). Pancreatic cancer is a major and deadly cancer type. Pancreatic tumor cells are surrounded by abundant CAFs, playing important roles modulating tumorigenesis. My recent work identified the fetal cellular origin of pancreatic CAFs. I seek to further elucidate the roles of fetal molecular programs in CAFs during pancreatic tumor formation. The ultimate goal of my study is to uncover novel targets within the tumor microenvironment for therapeutic benefits.”
