Manuel Hidalgo, MD, PhD, is the chief of the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Weill Cornell Medicine/New York Presbyterian Hospital. He is also the Walter B. Wriston professor of pancreatic cancer research at Weill Cornell Medical College. Dr. Hidalgo received his MD from the University of Navarra in Pamplona and a PhD from University Autonoma of Madrid. He trained in medicine and medical oncology at Hospital ¨12 de Octubre¨ in Madrid and at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio where he completed a fellowship program in anticancer drug development. He is a member of Bristol Myers Squibb Board of Directors. His main focus of research is in drug development and pancreatic cancer. His group popularized the use of avatar mouse models for cancer research and has contributed to the development multiple new anticancer agents.
