What are your long-term career goals?
I am very interested in the evolving connections between medicine and research and hope to become an MD/PhD in the future. So far, through the UH CNRCS Dr. Tasneem Bawa-Khalfe lab, my interest in the intricacies of breast cancer research (especially the distinct impact of PTMs on protein expression, cancer development, and cancer metastasis) has solidified my interest in oncology. On the physician side of things, I’ve discovered my interest in pediatric and neonatal neurology through previous research on the impact of spina bifida on children’s quality of life, along with shadowing health professionals in pediatric hospitals. In an attempt to merge these two advanced disciplines, I am currently exploring the field of pediatric neuro-oncology.
