Mikala Egeblad, PhD, is a Bloomberg Distinguished Professor of Tumor Microenvironment and a member of the Convergence Institute at Johns Hopkins University. She serves as Associate Director of the Giovanis Institute for Translational Cell Biology and co-leader of the Cancer Invasion and Metastasis Program at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center. Her research focuses on the tumor microenvironment’s roles in metastasis and therapy resistance, with a particular emphasis on innate immune cells such as neutrophils. Dr. Egeblad has received numerous honors, including the Metastasis Research Society’s Fidler Innovator Award, the Suffrage Science Award, and the Department of Defense Breast Cancer Research Program Era of Hope Scholar Award. A Clarivate “Highly Cited Researcher” (2023, 2024), she served as chair of the AACR Tumor Microenvironment Working Group Steering Committee (2022–2024).
