Timothy A. Yap, MBBS, PhD, is a Medical Oncologist and Physician-Scientist at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he is the Ransom Home, Jr. Endowed Professor for Cancer Research. Dr. Yap serves as Vice President and Head of Clinical Development in the Therapeutics Discovery Division, and is also a Professor in the Department of Investigational Cancer Therapeutics (Phase I Program) and the Department of Thoracic/Head and Neck Medical Oncology. His research focuses on novel cancer drug discovery, as well as the first-in-human and combinatorial development of molecularly targeted therapeutics and immunotherapies, through the use of predictive and pharmacodynamic biomarkers. His key interests include biomarker-driven synthetic lethal strategies targeting the DNA damage response (DDR), Werner helicase and SMARCA2, as well as next-generation CDK2/4-selective inhibitors, YAP/TEAD inhibitors, and innovative immunotherapeutics. Through his work, Dr. Yap aims to accelerate the clinical translation of precision oncology approaches to improve patient outcomes.
