Rachael is a bankruptcy/restructuring partner and the co-chair of the distressed investing practice group at the law firm of Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer (US) LLP, and a stage II cancer survivor. Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023, she was determined to remain active notwithstanding ongoing cancer treatments and joined AACR’s Runners for Research team for the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon. Fundraising for AACR’s Runners for Research team and learning about the magnitude of AACR’s global impact inspired Rachael to become more involved in activism and advocacy for cancer research and funding, to try to help other young survivors of all cancer types and diagnoses. Rachael has again joined AACR’s Runners for Research team for the 2025 Philadelphia Half Marathon and the 2026 Tokyo Marathon.
