AACR on Campus: Defeating Cancer Through Global Education and Training Program

This video is also available in Spanish.

AACR on Campus is an overseas outreach program offered to young investigators with preference for research institutions in low-resource settings. The program is designed to advance international collaboration by merging global and local perspectives on cancer research trends and innovations, publishing, science communication, and career development. In collaboration with local members and partners, the AACR helps address the interests, needs and demographics of the local cancer research and clinical practice communities at the hosting institution.

Topics can be drawn from existing AACR educational content and “best of” offerings, including clinical trial design, clinical cancer research methods, integrative molecular epidemiology, immuno-oncology, innovations in translational cancer research, developing manuscripts, journal publication, mentorship, grantsmanship, research ethics, data/sample curation, and advocacy work for cancer control: prevention, treatment, and care. Once selected, the AACR identifies basic, translational and clinical experts, and journal editors to deliver customized programming through a mixture of lectures, panel discussions, demonstrations, and meet-the-expert interactive sessions.

Additionally, there will be sessions on AACR membership, its many offerings for professional development, and grant information; in which participants can apply for competitive material support to conduct follow-on, in-country AACR on Campus gatherings to share targeted, relevant content.
