Emerging Frontiers in Oncology to Support AACR and Early-Career Investigators Through Annual Oncology Summit

PHILADELPHIA – The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) today thanked Emerging Frontiers in Oncology (EFO) for its support of the cancer research workforce through fundraising associated with the 8th Annual Emerging Frontiers in Oncology Summit.

Over the past eight years, the Emerging Frontiers in Oncology Summit has convened leaders across academia, industry, and the investing community to highlight emerging areas in cancer research and innovation. The fellowship funding effort extends this platform by providing direct support to the research community. This year, organizers have selected AACR to receive proceeds from the summit, with a goal of donating $100,000 to support early-career investigators.

“Supporting early-career investigators is essential to sustaining progress in cancer research,” said AACR President Keith Flaherty, MD, FAACR. “At a time when funding environments are increasingly constrained, efforts that bring together broader communities to support young investigators are especially meaningful.”

“Since its inception, Emerging Frontiers in Oncology has worked closely with leaders across oncology, including senior executives, scientific leaders, entrepreneurs, and investors, to convene the broader community,” said Uciane Scarlett, PhD, founder of EFO. “Collaborating with AACR is a natural extension of that work, translating years of engagement into direct support for early-career researchers.”

This collaboration between EFO and AACR reflects a shared commitment to advancing the field by supporting the next generation of scientists working at the intersection of discovery and translation.

The 2026 Emerging Frontiers in Oncology Summit will take place on June 4, 2026, in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
