AACR to Host COVID-19 and Cancer Virtual Meeting, July 20-22

Media registration now open 

The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) will host a virtual meeting on COVID-19 and cancer July 20-22, 2020. Registration is complimentary for credentialed members of the media.

The AACR Virtual Meeting: COVID-19 and Cancer will feature presentations from leaders in the fight against the pandemic, including an opening keynote from Anthony Fauci, MD, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases; the latest basic, clinical, and epidemiologic research related to COVID-19 and cancer; and discussion of how this unprecedented situation has impacted biomedical research, cancer care, and drug development.

Among many others, the three-day program will include sessions on:

  • The effects of cancer immunotherapies on patients with COVID-19
  • COVID-19 vaccine development
  • Ensuring continuity of cancer care during the pandemic
  • Health inequities and disparities

Media Registration

Registration for the COVID-19 and Cancer virtual meeting is now open. Reporters planning to cover the meeting will need to register with the AACR Communications and Public Relations department in order to receive complimentary access to meeting sessions as well as embargoed press materials. Individuals registered as press for the COVID-19 and Cancer virtual meeting agree to abide by all embargoes.

To register as press, journalists must provide official press credentials such as a business card, editorial roster or masthead, international press card, or letter of assignment. Alternatively, journalists may provide proof of membership in the Association of Health Care Journalists (AHCJ). In addition, journalists may be asked to provide examples of recent bylined health/medical/science coverage or further information about their plans for covering the meeting.
