Thousands of Cancer Researchers to Attend Leading Scientific Conference in Chicago, April 25-30

CHICAGO – The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) will host the AACR Annual Meeting 2025 at McCormick Place Convention Center from Friday, April 25 through Wednesday, April 30. This eminent scientific conference will bring more than 20,000 cancer researchers, physicians, and advocates to Chicago to discuss the latest advances in cancer prevention, detection, and treatment.

The meeting will have an estimated $66 million economic impact on the Chicago region

MEETING HIGHLIGHTS

2025 AACR Runners for Research 5K Run/Walk 

When: Saturday, April 26, 7:30-9:30 a.m. CT
Where: Chicago Firefighters and Paramedic Memorial, 2301 S. Lake Shore Drive

  • The 2025 AACR Runners for Research 5K will bring together more than 600 runners who have raised over $250,000 for lifesaving cancer research.
  • AACR Annual Meeting Program Committee Chairs Lillian L. Siu, MD, FAACR, and Matthew G. Vander Heiden, MD, PhD, will be at the event, along with AACR Chief Philanthropic Officer Mitch Stoller.
  • B-roll footage and photos will be available after the event.

Special Program for High School Students 

When: Tuesday, April 29, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. CT
Where: Hall C – McCormick Place North

  • More than 300 high schoolers will participate in The Conquest of Cancer and the Next Generation of Cancer Researchers, a special program for students to learn about cancer from world-renowned experts in the field. Most participants attend Chicago schools.
  • More than 40 students will present posters of their research during the program.
  • Researchers from local cancer centers, including the University of Chicago Medicine Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University, and the University of Illinois Cancer Center, will also attend the event.

Innovative and Practice-changing Scientific Research

When: Friday, April 25 to Wednesday, April 30
Where: McCormick Place Convention Center

  • The AACR Annual Meeting will feature distinguished speakers from around the world, hundreds of invited talks, and more than 7,000 proffered papers. The scientific program will include results from late-breaking clinical trials that highlight how cancer research is expanding options and improving outcomes for patients.
  • The AACR will host three press conferences featuring noteworthy research from the Annual Meeting in Room E353A of the convention center at the following times:
    • Sunday, April 27, 11 a.m. CT
    • Monday, April 28, 8 a.m. CT
    • Tuesday, April 29, 8 a.m. CT
