Call for Nominations: AACR and Pelotonia Announce New Scientific Achievement Awards for Women’s Cancers, funded by The Victoria’s Secret Global Fund for Women’s Cancers

PHILADELPHIA – Today, the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) and Pelotonia announced the establishment of a new grants program funded by The Victoria’s Secret Global Fund for Women’s Cancers to celebrate and foster innovative research aimed at transforming outcomes for breast and gynecologic cancers. As part of this program, the groups are launching new scientific achievement awards intended to recognize five influential female researchers who have made pioneering contributions to the fundamental understanding and/or treatment of breast or any form of gynecologic cancer: The Victoria’s Secret Global Fund for Women’s Cancers 2022 Meritorious Awards, In Partnership with Pelotonia & AACR.

The AACR is now accepting nominations for these awards. Each awardee will receive a $100,000 honorarium and will be invited to serve as an active participant and mentor in the broader women’s cancers grant program, which will include multi-year research grants for both established and early-stage investigators. The awards will be presented at the AACR Annual Meeting 2022 in New Orleans.

Any individual who is or has been affiliated with any institution involved in cancer research, cancer medicine, or cancer-related sciences may nominate a colleague for these new awards. The nomination process includes completion of an online questionnaire focused on capturing a description of the candidate’s scientific accomplishments, current research activity, and how their ongoing work demonstrates promise for continued substantive contributions to the cancer field and new directions in breast and/or gynecologic cancer research.

The Victoria’s Secret Global Fund for Women’s Cancers 2022 Meritorious Awards, In Partnership with Pelotonia & AACR, reflect the organizations’ broader commitment to supporting the professional development of female cancer researchers; consistently investing in innovative approaches to the understanding, prevention, detection, diagnosis, and treatment of women’s cancers; and improving and saving the lives of women around the world.

The AACR will be accepting nominations for these new awards through Friday, January 14, 2022. For more information, visit the AACR website.
