AACR Congratulates Members Elected to the National Academy of Medicine

PHILADELPHIA – The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) extends its sincerest congratulations to the nine AACR members who have been elected to the National Academy of Medicine (NAM), one of the nation’s highest honors in the fields of health and medicine.

The 2025 NAM class, announced today, includes four Fellows of the AACR Academy, two of whom are also former members of the AACR Board of Directors:

  • Charles Swanton, MBPhD, FAACR, Francis Crick Institute & UCL Cancer Institute; member of the AACR Board of Directors, 2019-2022
  • Victor E. Velculescu, MD, PhD, FAACR, Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine; member of the AACR Board of Directors, 2013-2016

The other AACR Fellows elected to NAM this year are:

  • Lieping Chen, MD, PhD, FAACR, Yale University
  • Michel W. Sadelain, MD, PhD, FAACR, Columbia Institute for Cell Engineering and Therapy, Department of Medicine, Columbia University

The latest NAM class also includes the following esteemed AACR members:

  • John C. Byrd, MD, UPMC Hillman Cancer Center; University of Pittsburgh
