Apply Today: 2026 AACR June L. Biedler Prize for Cancer Journalism
PHILADELPHIA – The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) is calling for submissions for the 2026 AACR June L. Biedler Prize for Cancer Journalism. This prestigious prize recognizes professional journalists who have produced accurate, informative, and compelling stories that enhance the public’s understanding of cancer, cancer research, cancer advocacy, or cancer policy in outlets targeting a lay public audience.
Each award is accompanied by a $5,000 cash prize. The 2026 AACR June L. Biedler Prize for Cancer Journalism presentation ceremony will take place during the AACR Annual Meeting 2026 in San Diego, April 17-22.
SUBMIT A STORY
The deadline for submission is Monday, December 8, 2025. Submit a story through the myAACR platform.
The myAACR platform has been recently updated. If you had an existing myAACR account, please click “Sign Up” the first time you visit myaacr.aacr.org. You must use the same email address associated with your previous myAACR account. Clicking “Sign Up” will securely link your existing account to the new portal.
ELIGIBILITY
Stories must have been published or broadcast for the first time between December 1, 2024, and November 30, 2025. Submissions will be considered in the following categories:
- Newspapers
- Magazines
- Online/Multimedia
- Television/Radio/Podcasts
All submissions must be in English or accurately translated into English. Additional eligibility requirements are outlined in the Application Instructions section on the AACR website.
