What are your long-term career goals?

I ultimately plan to fully realize my interests in oncology, machine learning, and health equity by attending medical school and pursuing a career as a physician. At this point in time, I’m particularly interested in radiation oncology because of the therapy’s integration with technology and its noninvasive nature.

Please share information about how the pandemic has impacted your research over the last two years.

Initially, I didn’t think that the pandemic really impacted my involvement with my lab’s work. But upon reflection, I would say that the pandemic has impacted my research by limiting my time in the lab. Upon the start of the pandemic, we quickly implemented chronological distancing in addition to physical distancing, which — coupled with my class schedules — hindered my ability to do more for our projects. Additionally, I explored simulation-based in silico research through a drug development internship. Had there been more in-person opportunities to do wet-lab work, I would have never thought to delve into other research methods.
