Housing Scam Alert!

The AACR has been notified that an unauthorized housing website exists. The unauthorized website may be part of a phishing scam designed to collect credit card information from conference registrants.

Our exclusive housing partner for the AACR Annual Meeting is Convention Management Resources (CMR). The Official AACR Housing Website can be found here. Any other housing agencies are not authorized by AACR, have not entered into agreements with Washington, DC, hotels, and are not able to guarantee rates and accommodations during the dates of the meeting. Hotel Reservations
The housing deadline for the AACR Annual Meeting 2017 was Friday, February 17, 2017. Meeting registrants who have not made housing arrangements or are currently on the wait list may still contact AACR Housing agents for assistance online at the Official AACR Housing Website and by phone at 888-381-7166 or for international callers at 415-979-2262, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. U.S. ET.

Upcoming Deadlines

  • Wednesday, March 22, 2017 - Last day to make changes through AACR Housing
  • Friday, March 24, 2017 - Reservation changes/cancellations must be made directly with the hotel(s).

Reservations must be guaranteed with either a major credit card (AMEX, Visa, or MasterCard) or a check in the amount of $300 per guestroom and $700 per suite. Make checks payable to Convention Management Resources, Inc.

Changes and Cancellations
Changes and cancellations can be made:

  • Online at the AACR Housing website (for reservations guaranteed with credit card only)
  • By emailing your change or cancellation to

Your credit card will be charged one night’s room plus tax or your check deposit will be forfeited if you cancel your reservation less than 72 hours before your confirmed arrival date. If you fail to arrive on the date confirmed by AACR Housing, your credit card will be charged one night’s room plus tax or your check will be forfeited. All subsequent nights of the reservation will be cancelled.

Hospitality Suites
Suites are for sleeping purposes only and may not be used for meetings or events without prior written permission from AACR. For these types of events, please complete the AACR Affiliate Event Space Request Form. Group Reservations
Organizations wishing to hold a block of rooms must fill out the Room Block Request Form. Exhibitors may request rooms in the AACR Room Block and must submit an Exhibitor Room Block Request Form or an Exhibitor Rooming List Form. Please adhere to all rules and regulations to facilitate processing. Confirmations will be emailed.

Air Transportation
There are three major airports in the Washington, D.C., region: Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (airport code: DCA), Washington Dulles International Airport (airport code: IAD), and Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (airport code: BWI). All three airports offer multiple U.S. and international flights daily. Washington, D.C., is also served by Amtrak and has a world-class subway system (Metro).

AACR has partnered with United and Delta Airlines to offer special meeting discounts exclusive to AACR Annual Meeting attendees and guests. Discounts may vary and terms and conditions may apply. Rail Transportation
Amtrak commuter trains link communities and travelers from as far away as Boston, New York, and Philadelphia to Washington, D.C.  Amtrak operates seven days a week, 365 days per year. Tickets may be purchased at the Amtrak station. Amtrak offers a 10% discount off the best-available rail fare to Washington D.C. between March 29, 2017 and April 08, 2017. To book your reservation, call Amtrak at (800) 872-7245 or contact your local travel agent. Tickets cannot be booked via Internet. Please be sure to refer to Convention Fare Code X53C-956 when making your reservation. This offer is not valid on the Auto Train and Acela Service. Fare is valid on Amtrak Regional for all departures seven days a week, except for holiday blackouts. Offer valid with Sleepers, Business Class, or First Class seats with payment of the full applicable accommodation charges.

Ground Transportation

Taxi Service
The closest major airport to the Annual Meeting site, Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), is approximately six miles from the Convention Center. The Metro is accessible from the terminal. Driving time from the airport to downtown Washington is approximately 10-15 minutes. Taxi fare is approximately $15-$20 one way.

Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) is approximately 27 miles from the Convention Center. Taxi fare is approximately $60-$68. Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) is about 30 miles from the Convention Center. Taxi fare is approximately $90-$100.

Super Shuttle
The AACR has contracted with Washington Super Shuttle to offer shuttle service between DCA, IAD, BWI, and the Walter E. Washington Convention Center and convention hotels. Discount is valid between March 28, 2017 and April 8, 2017. For airport shuttle service information and reservations, book online and enter group discount code VPBR2. Discount valid online only. Regular rate to convention hotels is $14.00 (DCA) per person, each way. Rate with discount will be $12.00 (DCA) per person, each way. To avoid wait times and receive the discount, advance reservations are required. Super Shuttle is available from all Washington, D.C., metro airports: Dulles International Airport (IAD), Reagan National Airport (DCA), and Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI).

Shuttle Service between Official Meeting Hotels and the Convention Center
The AACR provides complimentary shuttle service between many of the official AACR Annual Meeting 2017 hotels and the Convention Center. Please click here to review the shuttle schedule for times, locations, and route numbers for your hotel.

Public Transportation
The Metro and other regional train and bus information can be obtained by visiting the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority website.

Complete information on transportation to Washington, D.C., and ground transportation to and from the airport as well as in Washington, D.C., will be included in future Annual Meeting publications. Beginning Saturday, April 1, through Wednesday, April 5, shuttle buses will be provided between the Walter E. Washington Convention Center and designated AACR Annual Meeting participating hotels. A list of hotels served by the shuttle service will be available online at a later date. Shuttle bus schedules will be posted in each hotel, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, and at the AACR Information Desks located throughout the Convention Center.

Assistance for International Travelers
An official letter of invitation is available through the online registration system. Contact the American Consulate in your country to review the current regulations for travel to the United States. Please begin the visa application process as early as possible. Information is available on the U.S. Department of State website.
