About the Location
Emerging as a health care development center, San Diego is the eighth largest city in the United States and one of the fastest-growing cities in the nation. The presence of the University of California San Diego and UC San Diego Health has helped make the area a center of research in biotechnology. The Salk Institute Cancer Center and the UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center are located just north of San Diego in La Jolla. San Diego is known for its mild year-round climate, natural deep-water harbor, extensive beaches, long association with the U.S. Navy, and the Gaslamp Quarter’s world-class shopping and dining.
